For users, no. You can use the command line commands ASSOC and FTYPE =
but I would not recommend it over the GUI.
For ISVs there is plenty of documentation. What you do depends on =
the type of app. Apps like web browsers and email clients that want to =
become the default have to do additional registration to have themselves =
offered as options. Firefox did enough to get itself listed as an = option
but not enough for selecting that option to work correctly. = Firefox also
didn't correctly register itself as owning the HTTP = protocol and you use
the UI within firefox to select it as the default. = This is in fact the
only registration entry I checked. It could have = gotten much more wrong
too.
