Carol, in all reality I would hold off on the bb pistol. Try a squirt
gun or hose first. Most cats will run from the water and you'll be less
likely to have problems with the neighbors. Also you can go to a pet
store and buy stuff to put around the edges of your property to repel
the cats. We had a similar problem here with our cats being a small part
of the problem, and we paid for the repellant as well as a squirt gun.
Our biggest problem was really the problem of the house on the corner
and eventually the guy next door realized this too. Yes my cats visited
his yard, but mostly to lay on the warm gravel that covers half of his
yard. But even though I never saw my cats leaving "presents" as a cat
owner I was willing to try to help solve the problem. I even went so far
as to use the hose on my own cats whenever I saw them in his yard.
I suggest trying to talk to the owners of the cats first and see if
there is something they can do to help solve the problem.
