Well, you just never know. If Pocahontas shows her staying-power in the
minds and hearts of the public there's no saying WHAT might happen.
After all, Disney seems to be on this kick these days to remake their
movies. They remade The Mighty Ducks, The Rescuers, The Jungle Book, 101
Dalmatians and Than Darn Cat, just to name a few. If Pocahontas stays
popular there's always a "chance" that they might consider doing a
live-action film. And "if" they "consider" that, there's always the
"chance" that they might make a more accurate portrayal of her.
Ever since that movie came out I have seen all sorts of specials and
things about the real Pocahontas. I think here real life story would
make an EXCELLENT live-action film. I hope it happens someday.
However, when you talk about her "accepting Christ", I think you should
know that she was taken from America and paraded all over Europe as
"proof" that the savages could be "Christianized". I think her alleged
conversion to Christianity is VERY MUCH in doubt. For one thing, she
never gave up her Indian religious beliefs - even 'though they
contradict Christianity. For a second thing, she was paraded around as
proof that savages can be Christianized and she got fed up with and left
the tour.
I have read several accounts of her life. The Christians say she was
converted. The Indians say she was not. I think the truth lies somewhere
in between.
