I don't know. PL/I is an old (at least 20 years old) mainfram language. It reminds me more of C if you can imagine every C catalog function being included in the language itself. The subset most people used is Subset G and it contains functions that you wouldn't believe. However it is a very powerful language and runs very fast. Everything in it is a procedure, but that is also true of C. If you make certain programming errors, PL/I will try to correct them with usually astonishing results. I always liked it much better than C or Pascal. I have not done any real programming in REXX so I'm not qualified to make any comparison there.
