Such men understand all syllables of the word "no," and pay close
attention. One such of my acquaintance, a dashing bachelor about
town, was once unwinding a beautiful belle of Bombay from her
sari when he heard the unmistakable sound of the word no: "Does
this mean you will marry me?" He stopped in mid-revolution, and
barely missing a beat began to wind her safely back into her
sari.
Such frightful deceivers need do only as the Unabanger does, not
as the Unabanger says. Take out a membership in Planned
Parenthood, send a small check to NOW or to the Fund for a
Feminist Majority. Make sure to get a receipt, suitable for
framing. Then let the good times roll.
Such deceit may not be nice, but it doesn't keep the deceiver
from being a good doctor, lawyer or commander-in-chief from 9 to
5, and, like Miss Gloria says, we certainly don't want to
disqualify energy and talent the country needs.
