-=> Quoting Shane Rampling to Deon Attard <=- DA> DA>> Yes, it would bring the processing power of the computer up to a DA> DA>> Pentium 75 (Slightly faster according to the data I have here), DA> DA>> $99 for the AMD 5x86/133 DA> DA> SR> Not quite correct I am afraid, the 586 is still only a 32 bit chip DA> SR> whereas the Pentium is a 64 bit chip. The raw speed of the processor DA> SR> is similar to the Pentium, but thats where the similarities end. DA> DA> You just contradicted yourself. SR> No I didn't, your statement was that he would have the SR> Processing Power of a Pentium which is completely SR> INCORECT...Raw speed doesn't only determine processing SR> power of a CPU. If you have even a basic knowledge of CPU's SR> you will know that a 32 bit chip can't match a 64 bit chip SR> for processing power. SR> This statement appears to be just another case in this area where SR> people are trying to sell products they know nothing about, or trying SR> to CON some poor sucker into buying outdated or old stock. SR> This area doesn't need a Moderator....It needs someone with a SR> Conscience... SR> Regards Shane.. G'day Shane, Thanks for the info. I'm the one that first asked the question. I have now decided to save up for a pentium m/b (who knows when that'll be), but I may as well do it right the first time instead of trying the cheapies way out (which often gets you in more pooh than what you were already in).
