Hi, Paul.

PE> BL> BTW, how do you know where to add your EOT? Read the Tear line, do
PE> BL> you? If that's the case, what's it doing that the Tear line doesn't
PE> BL> do? Your EOT logic is loony.

PE> FM> Actually, that's a very good point.

PE> It would be, if it were true.

And I now understand this. You cannot, in certain (unlikely but
possible) circumstances, reliably add SOT/EOT to an existing message.

PE> FM> If an automated process can
PE> FM> determine where to place a SOT/EOT pair,

PE> It can't, not once a possible blank line, a possibly optional tearline
PE> and an even possibly optional origin line, have been added to the
PE> message by software.

I don't think the problem arises IF that stuff's been added; it arises
if it hasn't.

PE> FM> then by trivial proof a
PE> FM> SOT/EOT pair ain't necessary.

PE> Yep, wish it were so. Would have been a hell of a lot easier.

Yep.

Regards, fIM.
