subject: outlook opens two browsers

From: waldo kitty

i've a friend with win98se fully patched... they are trying to move away
from IE and have Opera, Mozilla, and Firefox installed... Firefox is the
only one set to be the default browser...

now, here's the tricky part... when they read email in outlook, if there's
a url in the email and they click on it, it'll open Firefox first and then
IE... both going to the same url... i've looked and looked and looked and
can't find anything that would control this... i've gone into everything i
can find and turned off the "be the default browser" setting and
only enable that in firefox...

the wierdest part (and we've not figured out the flow that causes it) is
that when they try to demonstrate this for me, if they use an email they've
already read and visited the url inside, sometimes it opens firefox only as
it should...

it seems to be "new" unread messages that do this double opening
of the browser but when working on this yesterday, i even rebooted a couple
of times and was still getting the double on messages that we had just
tested and visited... older already read messages did give the single
browser as desired...

arggghhh! i'm almost confusing myself just thinking about it...
