Hello Ward. 15 Jun 06 02:16, you wrote to me: >> WD> Because no-one's private finances were involved we never had any >> WD> mail-wars in Belgium, unlike the Netherlands ... >> The mail war in The Netherlands wasn't really about money, that was >> just the excuse. It was mostly about konthrol... WD> That's all water under the bridge, isn't it? Fortunately it is. WD> A lot of money changed hands in those days whatever youdecide to call WD> it. Oh, yes a lot of money was involved. WD> As I was BNET's treasurer I know the sums, or treasures, we needed to WD> pay in order to get international echomail. In the beginning the cost for international mail was all paid by HCC. I wasn't the treasurer, bit the information was avalable to all members, so I knew it anyway. Yes, it was a lot... It went sour when Ron Dwight attempted to abolish the overlapping nets. Net 500 (HCC FidoNet) was the main offender in the "no overlapping nets" clause of P4. Had Ron Dwight not attempted to KOHntrol the region, the situation of the HCC paying for the international mail would have merrily continued. Ah well, water under the bridge as you say...
