Hi Gerry,

It makes all the difference to the code in the Master Boot Record - if
you have a look with a Disk editor - eCs 1.0 came with a trial version
of the Graham Utilities - I don't know whether like me you have GU 2.1
or possibly the old DOS Norton diskedit.exe, or whether there's only a
limited life on the free GU-diskedit.exe, but have a good look at the
hex contents in cyl0-head0-sector1.

Reference the untouchable partition in the last 4GB+ of the drive, this
will probably be the recovery partition to restore the XP-or whatever
that was originally on the dive - back the way it was at manufacturing
time - as a BIOS function probably - judging by the type of BIOS in my
VAIO Laptop - which hasn't yet seen OS/2-eCS [need bigger drive
preferably].

Using either those tools mentioned or DFSee - you can get an iso image
from Jan van Wijk of the V6.0 Beta, to burn a bootable CD with all the
DFSee versions on it, you can [after cloning that partition to somewhere
else if you really need to reinstal ~XP], then change the partition ID
and then blow it away. The master Boot Record needs to have "I13X" in
location 0x00d5 in the MBR, IIRC. there may be variations between eCS
1.0 and 1.1, depending upon FP-level.
