I have an E2864 as an interim measure until the Supremes are released. If
you have a Z16 model, you can trade it in.
I went with the ZyXEL originally because I believed it to be an industrial
strength, multiple-featured modem; and it was. (I also hoped the Z19
protocol would catch on, which it didn't.) At the time, there weren't any
others readily available that did adaptive answering, selective ring
detection, etc.
I was also feuding with the phone company, and found the LCD display
invaluable in winning my war with them.
ZyXEL has a track record of producing solid equipment; on the other hand, you
can buy a crate of "disposable" modems for the same kind of money. It all
depends upon your personal style.
