Whether that is true or not, their oath of office makes it their sworn
duty to try.  If they don't, they make a mockery of the Constitution and
the idea that this ever was a nation ruled by law.
Personally, I'm fed up to the gills with all this namby-pamby nonsense
of excuses being trotted out attempting to justify Republican
congressional inaction.  They should do it because it is RIGHT!, for
cryin' out loud!  Furthermore, not attempting it makes criminal behavior
a proven acceptable approach for whoever occupies that office in the
future, and AFAIC, makes Congress an accomplice to every crime this
administration has committed and that future ones will feel free to
commit.
Sure, they might fail, but to not even try is unconscionable, and
absolutely guarantees failure - and I don't buy the notion it would make
Dufus any kind of martyr either, win or lose.
I repeat what I've said in other ways before - a committed and believing
minority can often move mountains no one ever thought possible, and the
Republicans aren't even a minority!  Didn't someone point out here that
the American revolution was brought about by a committed 17% of the
population?
