I am not sure I can agree with you about Generations.
I'm not sure if the problem was with the script, or with the editing,
but I thought it was poorly paced, overall.
One of the worst flaws was the intercutting of the very high "energy"
saucer crash with the Soren/Picard talk-talk-talk scenes.
When scenes are intercut like this, they should be similarly paced, such
as the Phoenix going into warp and the Picard/Data/BQueen scenes in
First Contact.  (Mind you, the similar pacing was partially the result
of the script and partially the result of the music underneath both
scenes, with Generations also did not use int he scenes I mentioned
above.)
