You are obviously proud of your work; I hope justifiably so, and I wish you
success. I'm confused by one thing: I've always con- sidered the term
"app" to be short for "application", and hence,
"apps" would be plural. Yet you use "apps"
interchangeably as singular and plural, as exemplified above. Are you
working on *one* application, or more than one? Maybe a suite?

I've heard of them; no time for them now, alas. Everything from my old DOS
world has been rewritten in C++ for OS/2, with some UNIX development, and
I'm committed to that now. If anything, the next project is probably PL/I.

LR> I don't think I would ever consider moving to PL/I. It is a
LR> very old compiler that dates to the late 1960's....

Its newest incarnation, from a superficial scan of IBM's demo, has advanced
into the 90's.  I still haven't had time to examine it very closely;
however, I see an opportunity for moving legacy mainframe stuff to PC's by
using it. PL/I being an old language has nothing to do with its utility,
especially a revised version. And I still make use of old FORTRAN
mathematical routines, and for a *really* old language, I have an OS/2
version of a LISP interpreter for playing around with AI stuff. Then there
is that old dinosaur, COBOL (shudder), with more stuff still in use than
software written in every other language combined.

LR> I agree DOS and Windows will be around for many years but
LR> "always" is a very long time....

Hehe, I sometimes tend to exaggerate. I expect DOS/WIN will be viable for
maybe another five years; it's such a piece of crud, tho, compared to the
alternatives, that it will *seem* like forever.... No matter to me. If
someone drives up in the proverbial horse and buggy (no pun intended), I'll
send them to Microsoft for their accessories, and have no sympathy for 'em.
