Ensure that you haven't trashed the master boot record (try FDISK
/NEWMBR to fill it with a "fail-safe" default setup). Usually if the
drive goes bad, there should be more than a single error, meaning it
will definitely attract one's attention when doing CHKDSK /F:3 or FORMAT
/L. But if nothing helps, replace the drive.
