C'mon ... he openly on TV called for the destruction of the souvereign
state of Israel. When questioned in the UN Security Council about that the
Minister of Foreign Affairs simply reiterated that and I seem to remember
that the General Assembly voted a motion of disapproval.

Accepted! Valid point.
 
The same Iranian President during a follow-up speech announced Iran
successfully enriched uranian 5% so that it could be used as fuel in
nuclear reactors. During that same speech he equally announced that Iran
would go further and try to enrich even more.
 
He did not say "why" this was needed, but there is only one known
application for uranium enriched beyond 5% ... a nuclear bomb.
 
So, indeed, you are right, he never said: "And now my fellow Iranians
we will make an atomic bomb".
