-> Hello, I have been monitoring your discussions on
-> 12 ga slugs. I have been looking for some time for
-> some jacketed, full diameter (not sabot), 12 gauge
-> slugs. I remember seeing a brief mention of some
-> outfit making some narly looking thin jacketed
-> hollow point 12 gauge slugs that had a saw tooth
-> type rim to the hollow point opening. I have
-> spent a lot of money on phone calls all over the
-> country trying to locate something like this but
-> have yet to come up with anything. Have you
-> seen/heard/know of any source/lead on this subject?
I have never seen or heard of jacketed hollowpoint
12 ga slugs.
The best non-saboted slugs, in my opinion, are Rottweil/Brenneke
slugs. The Fiocchi brand slugs look good, but I haven't
tested them yet. They have an attached gas-seal that stays
with the slug.
Slugs that you can reload yourself are "Dangerous Game Slugs"
which are sold by Ballistic Products.
Lyman has data for a "Vitt-Boos" slug which has an attached
base. Lyman also has data for a "BuckBuster" slug that fits
inside a shotcup.
Generally speaking, if you have a fully rifled shotgun barrel,
(not just a rifled choke tube), and use saboted slugs, you can
achieve about 4" groups at 100 yards from a bench.
