Good day to you, Jim.
JH> I guess I'm giving myself a good "clue" here.
That also was my problem. When the house was built, the
procedure was to "butt" the drain to the street with 18" lengths of
french drains. Not cementing them. The tree roots seek their way to
where the humidity is and will enter the pipes. My daughter had her
house pipes redone last spring and now they use a one piece plastic
pipe from the basement exit to the street sewer line.
My feeling is that you will have to remove a commode and gain
access to the 4" house sewer and root it out. I did not get a T-shirt
but been there and done that. I will have to back-hoe my pipe out too
as with a small camera, last time, we saw that one of these tiles has
collapsed and restricts passage. I have access to a Y trap in my 4" pipe
but it is now inside a wall. Much easier to remove a commode to do this
work. Look for a +/- $400.00 job.
