| subject: | Re: HD cable, connector locations |
Is the problem that the cable would be long enough if the connectors
were in different locations? With some cables it seems like they threw
the middle connector at the cable and wherever it landed that's where
they put it.
On many of the cables I have used I have moved the center
connector--both 40 and 80 pin. I have also built cables from scratch.
A connector press is nice but I have done OK with a flat jawed bench
vice. The difficult part is removing the connector without breaking the
locking tabs.
I get connectors from the computer swap meet or Mouser.
