UniMaint cleans up the .INI files, which I don't see to be written to
disk UNLESS a WPS restart is initiated.

I find that if I don't restart WPS every day or two, then attempting to
do so will fail and the desktop will be cleared but not fully
restarted; this with no enhancers.

Somebody else certainly understands these matters better than I do
however.
