The two things you must want to know are VIO/KBD/MOU programming (or, perhaps,
device driver programming) and PM programming.  For that, you need ADVANCED
OS/2 PROGRAMMING by Ray Duncan and PROGRAMMING THE OS/2 PRESENTATION
MANAGER by Charles Petzold.

Note that the Petzold book is not the thin, red book which currently IS in
print, but is a thick beige-and-gray book.  Both of them are published by
Microsoft Press.
