BMW have made "desert racers" for many years. They started with a 800cc twin, then the 1000cc twin. Nowdays it's a 650cc fuel injected single. They even dabble in sports bikes - but not as competitive as some others. Harley's seem to attract a certain clique who appear to be more interested in image than the actual joys of riding.....
