Hi, Warren. Great information on Real-Time using OS/2. You are absolutely correct, Real-Time has many meansings and depends on the situation. I am wondering if these prospective clients are using OS/2 as stricly a developemtn system with cross compilers so other (deciated micors) can be developed or if they are using OS/2 to run the REal-Time apps directly. I simply don't know what this client has in mind. It may be that this is exactly what VXWORKS is - a cross compiler and system building tool for embedded stuff. I know Motorola had such a developemnt system targeted for Intel Micors for embedded stuff. Also Intel itself has a "MDS" envrinment with what they call ICE so PLM can be sued to implement and build real-time embedded stuff. BTW, PLM is assembler but different in that it is equation oriented - no loads and stores to implement an eqyation - similer to Fortan or Pascal as far as equations are concerned - a neat type of assembler - sort of a Meta assember. It has been a while since I have done Real-Time so I don't know what tools now exist to make this task of building a Real-Time system easier. Anyway, as you may already know, getting vague job requirements leaves much to be desired. The only other thing I know about this job req. is that they want people knowledgeable about TCP/IP - so since this is a network protcol there must be a network involved in this so called Real-Time orocess control apps. I will know more when I know more - right? :) Thanks again.
