If you want to avoid the nuts & bolts of comm. programming under OS/2, take 
a look at COMM++, a C++ class library from Greenleaf. It handles all the 
low level work for you, giving you simple functions to read and write to 
the port, as well as include X/Y/ZModem, modem control and more.
