Who knows, maybe I'm wrong, but that's certainly how it played out for me.
I did the test because I noticed other posts about the security dialog
changing on some people's PC's, but I never saw the change on any of the
PC's I control -- but I always turn off auto-update.
As soon as SP2 proves itself I probably will turn it on for users PC's, but
that's just because the problems if you don't outweigh the problems if you
do for anything but tightly controlled computers.'
