Okay... I know folks have talked about this and I've gained some insights
from that but I still have a question.
Here's my beginning setup:
Five OS/2 machines on an Ethernet LAN:
One machine running Warp Server and set up as a domain controller.
Three machines running Warp 4 and one machine running Warp 3 all
with Peer installed and all communicating with each other just
fine.
Here's the task:
Add a Windows 95 machine to the group. :(
So, what I did was, I went and downloaded the Warp Server Client for
Windows 95 and installed it on the new machine. I gave the machine
a unique name (w.r.t. the other machines on the LAN) and specified
my Warp Server domain name as the "Workgroup" and specified the Warp
Server Client as my primary login client.
At this point, if I log in using an existing account, I get all the
login drive assignments and stuff but no other machines on the net
show up in the "Network Neighborhood". I *can* share a drive from
any other machine on the net by specifying "\\machinename\drivename"
however. And I can print to the network printer. This is good enough
for me -- I know what drives I want to get at and their netnames so I
don't really care if they show up on the GUI or not at this point....
But then I try to share the drive on the Windows box. I've tried both
share level access and user level access settings -- it can't find
my NET.ACC on the server however when I request user level access. I've
ried
each sharing mode for the drive and I've tried using my password from
my other workstation and I've tried no password. Doesn't matter --
if I go to any of the OS/2 machines and type "net view" I do NOT see
the Windows machine in the list and attempting to share the drive via
"net use x: \\windowsmachine\cdrive" fails. Now, a good 80% of why I
even want to have this machine on the net is so I can back it up to
the network tape drive and I can't do this if I can't share the drives
from the box with the tape drive so any advise would be greatly
appreciated!
