Once again I was lucky enough to have my oldest son take me to see the
Stones. This time we had floor seats right beside the second stage.
Great sound. However, nobody sat down and for a short, old dude like me
that was a major hassles. Had to take a few seat breaks and watch them
on the screen. As usual they put on a good show. The fact that it was
held in the Molson Centre and not the Big Owe made a lot of difference
in the sound. Lotsa good guitars being used there.
When they came down to the second stage we were about 20 ft. away from
them. My son almost caught one of Ron Woods's picks at the end of the
set.
The opening act was a trio from Saskatchewan called Wide Mouth Mason. A
little loud and the vocals tended to get lost in the mix. Don't know the
guy's name but the kid on guitar was really good. He had a Gibson
Blueshawk(?). Not sure of the type. Used two Fender amps, blonde, maybe
the newer series. Bassist, also very good, had an Ampeg 2x15 cab.
Couldn't see his amp too well. Laid down some good stuff too. Drummer
was also great.
