BS>On 02 Mar 97 Matheas Manssen said to Egor Samarkhanov...
BS>MM> Try Delphi 2 Unleashed.
BS>I have not seen Delphi 2 Unleashed, but I have used the original Delphi
BS>Unleashed. I learned a lot of good stuff from it, but I ended up with the
BS>impression that while the author had a lot of support from the Delphi
BS>development team, he may not at that time have reached full understanding
of
BS>some of the areas he was writing about.
Just yesterday, I was reading a review of it in Delphi Informant (I was
looking through back issues...) and it said that the Delphi 2 book has
quite a bit of new material. It is one of the more advanced books on
Delphi.
BS>You might want to take a look at "Delphi 2 Developers Guide", by Pacheco
and
BS>Teixeira, published by Sams Publishing/Borland Press. ISBN 0-672-30914-9.
BS>1996. It is an expensive book ($60 US), but there are 1320 pages, only 2
of
BS>which are wasted on describing the IDE. There is also a CD-ROM containing
BS>source code from the book, plus some component demo versions. The book
as
BS>a 1996 "reader's choice" winner from "Delphi Informant".
It is definitely a worthwhile addition to the Delphi programmer's
library.
BS>Quote from the introduction - "This book is aimed at three groups of
people:
BS>* Delphi developers who are looking to take their craft to the next level.
BS>* Experienced Pascal, BASIC, or C/C++ programmers who are looking to hit
the
BS> ground running with Delphi.
BS>* Programmers who are looking to get the most out of Delphi by leverageing
BS> the Win32 API and using some of Delphi's less obvious features."
BS>In other words, it's not intended for beginners.
THIS is VERY true.
Without a doubt, the BEST Delphi book for beginners (and advanced
programmers who need certain information) is Delphi for Dummies, Second
Edition. It covers some information on the Windows 95 controls that is
almost impossible to find anywhere else.
