Tree roots don't follow the code, they assume right-of-way... :-((
Most of the older houses, have cast iron pipe inside meeting with terra
cotta (baked clay) pipine outside. Those are a real disaster down here
though as all the short sections tend to sink into the soft mud all on
their own over time. Now-a-days everything is single long runs of plastic.
For a few years sewerage pipes were black ABS and water lines were white
PVC. Now PVC has taken over completely with green for sewerage, white for
water, grey for electrical conduit, and I've seen tan and red, but don't
know what they are for yet.
