I have never really used the 'ftp host template' in the template folder 
but I now have a reason for it and decided to give it a shot.  It 
wouldn't connect to the server, giving an error:

-- FTP Host "valid hostname was here" not responding.  Server on
host may be down, nameserver may be down, or you may have specified an
invalid or unresolvable hostname.

I then played with it a bit and found that if I do an 'open as' and choose
command line it brings up a command line ftp session asking for the
password.  I tried details, tree, and icon (default) and all got the above
error.  I then tried 'split view' (xworkplace) and it works fine.
Anyone have any idea why the regular views don't work?
