I have successfully used 5.04 and 5.05 to create DVD+R and DVD+RW using
Memorex media.  
I have not tried any other brands other than the 2 dvds that came with the
drive, and 
they had no name on them.
I'm using a Lite-On LDW401S CD/DVD combo drive that writes DVD+ media and any CD 
media.
