I agree with you Paul, but my cell usage has been almost exclusively in
Asia ¨and that is the pattern. The caller pays for the call.
The same pattern was there in the states but I left before cell phones
really ¨'took off' there. There was some hidden 'air time' thing they had
there that ¨those monthly contracts had where even if all your calls were
inbound, if you ¨hit a limit of time on air, you paid extra if it was over
your contract. I've ¨since seen 'unlimited airtime' in ads from the USA?
My pre-paid cell is easy. I pay more per minute than a landline but at an
¨acceptable rate and anything on my Kyushu island (the one I am on) is a
set ¨rate of 10 yen a minute. From another island, I pay a range depending
on how ¨many islands-distance I am away. Okinawa is 50 or 60 yen a minute
which is the ¨top end I think you can hit.
