Old thread (catching up). In Japan, we have distinctive cell numbers.
They ¨are 090 and 080. If my surmise is correct, the 090 are 'pay per use'
and the ¨080 are 'monthly plan'. Calling them does not cost the caller
more than 'japan ¨wide rate' but there is not the offset for a 'local rate
call'. There is no ¨extra charge on the person with the cell phone to
recieve a call at all, hence ¨no reason to switch it off.
The pay per use (prepaid) ones are so cheap that I have an extra just for
me ¨for when the main one was left on the ship one day. 9$ for the phone,
20$ card ¨which I used up over a 2 month time in Okinawa trips to call Don.
