Why not?

Because:

1. If you make the 3 install disk out of the eCS1.1 CD, and install that 
way bypassing the ecs1.1 installer, lvm has no problems on the very same 
system(s).
I told already we can't do much with this trick onto a floppyless notebook.

2. On the very same systems, eCS1.0 and eCS preview don't have a problem 
either. At least, at those I've been testing.

Hence my conclusion is the eCS1.1 installer prevents lvm from working 
over the 1024 boundery. :-)

Nevertheless, meanwhile we still can enjoy the deafening silence coming 
from ... you know .
