There is a small REXX program called autodial,
with it you should be able to start IN-JOY
and ping your isp to make sure your connection is
currently ok, and if ping isn't good the program
can kill in-joy and re-establish the connection.
I am not sure exactly what the file name is, but it
is also associated with a Rexx program called sendip.
I think it was originally written by jeffj@ro.com ,
http://ro.com/~jeffj
At at rate, if you look at the Rexx code
(and make a few minor program & name changes),
you can use it with your event file to call out
and keep track of your connection. The complete
REXX code does more than what you need and it
will provide an excellant example of how to
keep track of a connection using ping.
Also, if you want to learn more about REXX , check out
http://www.ZDU.com The Schindlers are running
an on-line REXX class there starting March 17.
I think there still are some openings.
