The only devices I know of are surely common enough to be known to you. Solar 
panels and wind generators are that which exists. Whether you can find such 
with any relevant economy is the question. If wind generators were mass 
produced like autos, would the economies of scale kick in such that they 
would be competitive to centrally produced electricity? Could a closed auto 
plant be retooled to do this?
