Unfortunately, I don't know what this is using under the covers.  Mine 
works, more or less, as expected with split view.  I can't even tell why 
it can't connect using the regular views.  Mine is basically doing what 
yours is if I try to open other folders using split view, I get the 
error from the regular view trying to open folders as well.  I did 
notice that it doesn't update nicely.  If I change the directory it 
leaves the old view on a new launch (this is after closing the window, 
updating the directory and relaunching).  I can then force a reload by 
view - refresh (F5 doesn't work).  It works well enough for the site I 
wanted it for as I am just using one directory and I set the default 
launch as split view.
