At that time, I was using several BBS' and not finding much luck in
keeping up with my favorite echo; CHATTER. That was mainly because BBS's
were dropping like flies from the network. Not to mention the wait time
for those without several lines to accommodate more users. And they all
wanted a few dollars to help pay for the costs. (I hadn't heard about cost
recovery yet)

If the process were made easier, i.e. no need for a seperate frontend,
tosser and reader, but a program that's all in one, it could happen. I
think Point99.exe was a great one for doing all of that. OTH, the use of
JamNNT would be the best bet, as it's easy to do in Outlook Express on a
Widoz machine.
