Absolutely! Attaching our brains to a hardened mainframe/ supercomputer for
time sharing, probabably by something like worldwide
wireless/internet, I assume will become a simple option once the brain
connection is worked out--that will supplement the smaller
laptop size cpu we'll carry around attached to our heads all the time for
routine stuff :).
These ideas are closer to real science rather than purely scifi today
tho--by that I mean we'll heve such things on the scale of
hundreds of years from now rather than thousands of years or more...the
boys at MIT and elsewhere have been thinking of how to
implement such connections for years now, and technology is slowly catching
up to concept. Of course ETIs even slightly advanced
over us will be using these things routinely already when they get around
