I don't have problems with the proxy over https for the account stuff I do.
There are some sites where I have told privoxy to pass them through
untouched.
Also, I put a checkbox on Opera's toolbar to turn the proxy on and off. As
I tune privoxy, I find that I am turning it off less and less. Attached is
a screenshot of the top right corner of my Opera window, showing the check
boxes in their normal browsing configuration.
btw, the privoxy server runs through a squid http cache before it hits the
internet. So I also have a http cache for all the PCs in the house as
well.
