We have 2 dwarf spy apple trees. They were 3 years old nursery stock
when purchased and are now 6 years old. They are about 8 feet high. I
would say they are about 5 feet across at the most. We prune them so
they will not get any wider than that. The first year they produced
nice green leaves...(ggg). The second year they produced about 6 to 7
apples each, but a couple fell off or were eaten by birds and between
the 2 trees we had about 5 apples. Last year, we picked and used about
20 apples. These trees need to be sprayed every 2 weeks from the time
the blossoms fall off until about 2 weeks before the crop is ready.
Early in the spring they need to be sprayed with a dormant spray to
kill anything that has wintered over. You spray every 2 weeks until
the blossoms arrive, then you stop until the blossoms have fallen and
there is only the teeny apple. These instructions are given on the
package of spray that you buy. Buy good stock from a good nursery and
get you spray from them as well.
This is what I know...hope it helps.
