Point considered in 89. my partnerwas agood le boy from hills of TN who was
finally after months of working with me, gaining insight into a work ethic,
but for sure he would have lost the encounter. That was office consensus.
As far as training for line of duty death,I have personlly known several
officers in same situation and reactions are predictable and consistent so
the best you as non involved can do is be there for emotional support and
choose words with care.
One officer who was a gun trader told us he would sell any gun he owned
EXCEPT this one. When asked why his statement was "I know THIS ONE works!"
He did later sell the gun and went to work security for Olin
We all find a way of dealing with it.
Another never spoke of his incident again after investigation was over.
I lost track of him butoften wonder how and what he is doing now.
There have been a no of officer shootings in Nashville. One case in mind was
where I personally knew both the officer and the deceased.Interesting case.
