AC97 is the onboard sound chip - in this case from Intel - they all seem to be incompatible with different flavours from e.g. VIA. Ali, Realtek etc. I don't go through motherboards other than very infrequently - can't afford them - so I don't really have any experience with current technology. The motherboards that I have with onboard sound - AC97 - ES1371 - ESS1938 can all be disabled in the BIOS [2 Award 4.51PG and an AMI Simple BIOS], "disable onboard sound" is an option. Do you have any settings in your BIOS that relate to PCI settings - where you can e.g. "reserve" certain ones for legacy hardware? [Previous message] I knew there were 3 items in the PCI-list, which is why I spent the time to truncate your message to only the relevant items, in my response. The RS-232C COM-ports are usually - on an ATX Tower case to the left of the Parallel Printer port [Dark Red female usually], or on a slimline desktop case, below it. Well this session is at the 1d 04h xxm stage, so I'll be knocking off shortly. -- Regards, Mike Failed the exam for -------------------- MCSE - Minesweeper Consultant and Solitaire Expert -------------------- [ISP blocks *.exe attachments] [Please use zipped versions of above] Yahoo!
