I'm usually protected from myself by a different mechanism.  As I've posted
before, this happens more often than not over the past eight months, here
in the East:

o I'm set to "notify" on WU.

o It notifies.

o I accept, usually all.

o The msgbox goes away and nothing happens, for hours.

o I reboot.  There's no second notification.

o Sometimes, the next day, when the Akamai gods smile again on New York,
there is a second notification.

o Most often, I get antsy by day 2, and manually get the updates.  This
works, unless I'm stupid enough to try on the Tuesday itself.

o Does this turkey auto-heal, eventually, before next month? Who knows?  Is
this a secret plot to drive me to autoupdates, or to SUS?  Who knows?  Is
it amusing?  Wait, I can answer that one.

Verdict:  Microsoft has again crushed even my delusions of control.  They
offer manual settings, but these just slap you on the wrist for deigning to
be not-fully-Borged.  Asssimilation is in my future, I guess.
