Ok, I was exaggerating, but rap generally has lots of energy in the 
bottom 2 octaves (much of it synthetic) and a pair of 18"s would
do nicely. The other possibility is a bunch of smaller cones, which
tend to sound better, since they are a bit faster on the attack.
Some of the most musical bass I have ever heard was being repro'd by
12 8" drivers in a single box; very quick and musical! Take care.
