Hi Wayne! :-) WC> The Quantum drive that failed I'd bet money the original owner WC> moved while running or banged the box to _get it going_ WC> when it hung up. I wrecked a 4G Quantum drive once by accidentally turning on the machine while I had the case tilted about 45 degrees to plug in some hardware on the back. Gave a screeching sound and after that it refused to start up again. Very unpleasant surprise, that, but at least I learned something - don't tilt your computer while still connected to mains, you might accidentally hit the power button. WC> The sectors marked bad distribution just looked like WC> physically induced damage. I opened mine afterwards, and saw a nice spiral scratch all over the platter, with the head stuck at the end of it.
