I have a friend with a small business that employs 5 people. Each person has their own desktop PC, but they have a need to share files and a printer. What alternatives exist for connecting these PCs so that files can be shared without going to the trouble and expense of installing a single specific file server? For example, can the machines and printer simply be linked by Ethernet connections? Any advice and even suggested costings or contacts would be gratefully received.
