I prefer, as Opera does, to have a "Check for updates" (under the
Help menu) so that it calls if, and only if, I want it to.

Having said that ... I have to trust that the packets do that and only that
and that -- it is a browser after all -- that it doesn't do things on the
web that I don't want it to.

But, bottom line, at the end of the day, when all is said and done, I want
it to phone home when I want it to phone home; not before; not after; when.
