-=> Quoting Ian Remmler to All <=- IR> As stated in the subject, I'm new to OS/2 and C/C++ programming. I IR> was recently given a copy of C SET ++, but I've never done anything IR> w/ C before so I'm kind of lost. I am fairly well versed in IR> QuickBASIC (Don't laugh) and I understand all the basics like IR> functions, pointers, etc. Looking at some C stuff, I can understand IR> the structure perfectly, but I don't know which functions do what, IR> how to implement them, etc. Can someone recommend a good book to IR> get me on my feet. Seeing you have a good programming backround, I'd recommend you start doing text mode programming in C/C++ for OS/2. That way, you don't have to come up to speed with C/C++ _AND_ OS/2 at the same time. Once you feel comfortable with C/C++ [probably not too long given you backround], start on the PM programming. At this point, I would recommend one of the following books: 1. OS/2 Programming, Schlidt & Goosey [short introduction] 2. OS/2 PM programming, Petzold (1994) [longer, in depth introduction] * KWQ/2 1.2e * Windows 95 -- Dated Software with a six month life cycle. --- Maximus/2 2.01wb* Origin: * MacSavvy * Dallas * Mac * OS/2 * (214)250-4479 * (1:124/1208) SEEN-BY: 12/2442 54/54 620/243 624/50 632/348 640/820 690/660 711/409 410 413 SEEN-BY: 711/430 807 808 809 934 942 712/353 623 713/888 800/1 @PATH: 124/1208 1111 1 396/1 3615/50 229/2 12/2442 711/409 54/54 711/808 809 @PATH: 711/934 |
