If space is a consideration, you may want to consider grafting.
I know that various citrus shoots can be grafted onto one stock;
I believe that pear can be grafted onto apple.
Your (her?) local garden centre or local agricultural department
may be able to recommend a good professional gardener who will
undertake to produce a couple of trees that provide, say, six
different fruits.
